PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE ON THE 2014 ASSA/KAEA MEETINGS

President’s message on the 2014 ASSA/KAEA meetings in Philadelphia

I and all KAEA Executive Committee team welcome you to the 2014 ASSA/KAEA meetings in Philadelphia.

• The KAEA organizes 3 sessions — an Int’l Finance session organized by Hyun Song Shin (Princeton), a Macro session by Yongsung Chang (Rochester/Yonsei), and an IO session by Yeon-Koo Che (Columbia).  All these sessions will take place on January 4^th at Room 408 & 409, Philadelphia Marriott Downtown Hotel.

• Maekyung Forum will take place at 5 pm, January 4th, at Philadelphia Marriott — Grand Ballroom – Salon C.  The speaker is Dr. Charles Plosser, President, Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia.  http://www.aeaweb.org/Annual_Meeting/daily_program_events.php

• Immediately after the Maekyung Forum, about 6:00 pm, January 4^th, there will be the KAEA business meeting, in the same room (Grand Ballroom – Salon C).  After the KAEA business meeting, there will be the KAEA Dinner Banquet in a restaurant in China Town (6:30 pm, January 4th, at Ocean Harbor Restaurant, 1023 Race St, Philadelphia, Tel: (215) 574-1398). All the KAEA members including KAEA institutional members are welcome for meeting people and enjoying an exquisite Chinese 10-course banquet dinner.

• On January 5^th, we plan to have a panel session on the Korean economy in the morning, followed by KAEA workshop sessions.

• [Registration and hotel reservation] The ASSA headquarters hotel is Philadelphia Marriott Downtown Hotel.  The Conference registration and housing has opened on September 11^th.
