About KWEN

The Korean Women Economists Network (KWEN) was founded during the 2017 ASSA Meeting in Chicago by Professor Yoosoon Chang of Indiana University to create a collaborative and professional community for Korean female economists. KWEN is committed to fostering an environment where members can engage in meaningful academic exchange, pursue collaborative research, and enhance their professional growth.

Through its regular virtual seminars, mentoring workshops at ASSA meetings, and annual summer workshops in Korea, KWEN provides a platform for networking, mentoring, and professional development. These initiatives are designed to support economists at various stages of their careers, offering opportunities to improve as researchers, expand academic networks, and gain valuable insight for both career and personal development .

KWEN’s mission is to cultivate a supportive academic community that promotes the professional development of its members while advancing the broader presence of Korean women in the field of economics. By participating in KWEN’s programs, members contribute to a growing network of scholars dedicated to supporting a community of like-minded professionals and fostering excellence in research and leadership.
