Dear Korean Econometricians,
We are organizing an econometrics camp over the summer 2014, tentatively scheduled on Aug 8-9, 2014. The purpose of the camp is mainly to provide a platform to build up a working network among Korean econometricians, and to help Korean econometricians to learn about recent developments on some selected subjects in econometrics. We wish that all Korean econometricians working inside and outside Korea would consider participating. In particular, the camp will include mentoring sessions, so it would be particularly helpful for junior Korean econometricians to attend.
The main theme of this year camp is “Financial Econometrics”. The detailed plan for the camp is as follows:
Day 1: Joon Y Park and Hagen (Hwagyun) Kim will deliver key note speeches, which will set the theme and tone of the camp, in a lecture format. The key note speeches will be followed by four presentations of most important papers on the topic by invited participants.
Day 2: A few sessions for the presentations of contributed papers will take place. At least one of these sessions will be devoted to mentoring juniors by some established seniors. A senior attendant will be assigned to each of the papers contributed in the session(s) by junior participants, and the papers will be presented by the assigned seniors with subsequent discussions made by the contributing junior authors.
Those who want to present a paper, please send the final draft to Professor Kyungchul Song (kysong@mail.ubc.ca<mailto:kysong@mail.ubc.ca>) by April 30.
Korean Econometric Society provides meals during the camp during the camp and hotels for the night of Aug 8 to all the accepted attendants from Korea. KAEA will provide the accommodation on Aug 8 and meal expenses to the participating oversea KAEA econometricians. If you are not a member of KAEA, please contact Yongseok Shin at YSHIN@wustl.edu<mailto:YSHIN@wustl.edu>.
The exact venue and other details of the camp will be notified later.
All the best,
Changsik Kim, Joon Park, Sang-Soo Park, Kyungchul Song, Donggyu Sul and Yoon-Jae Whang.
